Brightly coloured palette knife portrait. Public art 2/6

This is the second portrait to be displayed.  It is painted using oil paints and an artists palette knife.  I used strong colours to try and create quite an abstract painting with an interesting texture.

  1. Wow…rather cool paintings.
I was thinking ‘these must take ages to dry’ – then I read that they take about 3 months. Of course, they will be drying underneath the skin for a lot longer. You should leave oil paintings for at least 6 months before varnishing but I wonder if you would have to leave these for longer.
    Great work – love it!
    Stew.
